I failed to acquire clients
In full transparency: my client acquisition sprint didn't work. Here's what I'm doing about it.
After weeks of effort and little to show for it, I've had to confront some hard truths:
My positioning wasn't sharp enough to attract the right clients
I targeted too broadly instead of focusing on a niche where I have undeniable expertise
The market is highly competitive, and standing out takes more than just effort
I've seriously considered stepping away from fwd design co altogether and applying for traditional jobs. The security and stability are tempting, especially when client acquisition feels like an uphill battle.
Why I'm not giving up (yet)
Despite these challenges, I still believe in what I'm building. My unique combination of ux design, MBA-level business knowledge, hr systems, and information science background gives me a perspective that can genuinely help businesses succeed.
The problem isn't the value I can provide - it's how I'm communicating and connecting with the right people.
Trying Again
Instead of giving up, I'm launching a condensed 2-week sprint to rethink my client acquisition strategy and generate results quickly.
Week 1: Strategic Positioning & High-Impact Outreach
Days 1-2: Narrowing to a hyper-specific target market where my expertise is undeniable
Days 3-4: Creating strategic content that speaks directly to their pain points
Days 5-7: Implementing personalized, multi-channel outreach to 15-20 perfect-fit prospects
Week 2: Conversations & Partnerships
Days 8-9: Preparing for deeper, strategic discovery conversations
Days 10-11: Developing compelling partnership proposals
Days 12-14: Closing conversations and building sustainable systems
Old Approach vs New Approach
To move forward with more clarity and impact, here’s how my new strategy differs from my old approach.
I'm committed to seeing this through, whether it leads to new clients or a new direction. Either way, I'm moving forward.
Thanks for being part of the journey.
Until next time,
Kristina 🌱
